Scenic Drives and Attractions Around Lake Tahoe
The Meet Organizers have designed several Scenic Drives around the area of varying lengths and interests. You will have time each day to pick and choose those which are most appealing to you.

Around the Lake Tour
This two-hour, 72-mile route will circumnavigate Lake Tahoe, passing through some of the most scenic sections, including Emerald Bay, Meeks Bay, Tahoe City, Incline Village and Zephyr Cove. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains abound at every turn. And, along the way you will pick up your Poker Run cards and sponsor prizes. Maybe you will win one of the big prizes tonight!

Virginia and Truckee Railroad Tour
This narrated scenic 35-minute train ride to Gold Hill and back is by far the most famous of all American short lines. The ornate V&T trains hosted U.S. Presidents and foreign dignitaries in their heyday. The V and T Railroad, completed in 1869, also hauled millions of dollars in gold and silver ore from the mines of the Comstock. You may even see wild horses run alongside the tracks.
The 40-mile, one hour drive into the Nevada Badlands passes over Spooner Summit and through historic Carson City enroute. Optional stops include the Comstock Gold Mine and The Way It Was Museum.

National Automobile Museum
For auto museum enthusiasts, this one hour, 57-mile drive to Reno, NV is sure to please. The route includes Spooner Summit and Carson City, with many options for diversions.
The National Automobile Museum preserves and celebrates the passion for the automobile, past, present, and future. Built on the legacy of William Fisk "Bill" Harrah and sustained by a global community of collectors and enthusiasts, the Museum is dedicated to educating and inspiring visitors of all ages. Located in the heart of Reno, the "Biggest Little City in the World," the museum serves as a premier destination for families, travelers, and lifelong learners.
An optional return route includes Truckee and the Olympic Valley, site of the 1960 Winter Games.

Echo Summit, Carson Pass and Historic Highway 49
This scenic four-hour drive includes two of the six Sierra Passes, Echo Summit (7500’) on Hwy 50 and Carson Pass (8700’) on Hwy 88. Connecting the two, you travel historic Hwy 49 in the heart of Gold Rush country. You will pass through the Old West towns of Jackson, Sutter Creek, Placerville and several others. You will enjoy the changing scenery as you travel from the High Sierras to the Foothills and back again.

Kingsbury Grade / Markeeville / Topaz Lake Tour
In this 2.5-hour, 100-mile loop tour, you will conquer the remarkable Kingsbury Grade, crossing Daggett Pass at 7334 feet. The road offers a mix of curves and technical turns with beautiful mountain and lake vistas. In the old town of Markleeville, on Hwy 88, you’ll find a number of lunch options, before continuing on to Topaz Lake on the California/Nevada border. Here, on the leeward side of the Sierras, you can start to appreciate the vast and vastly different desert climate that stretches far to the east across Nevada.

Carson City Museums
Carson City has been the capital of Nevada since its inception in 1864, despite being only the sixth largest city in the state. The area is full of Old West history, spurred by the discovery of gold and silver in 1859 at what would become known as the Comstock Lode. Not to be missed attractions include the Nevada State Museum, the Nevada State Railroad Museum, and the State Capitol building. The short 40-minute, 25-mile drive over Hwy 50 and Spooner Summit is very scenic. An alternate route back to the hotel, via Hwy 395, takes in Kingsbury Grade.

Hellman Ehrman Mansion Tour
The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion (Pine Lodge) was constructed in 1903. The property is one of the finest examples of a bygone era of summer retreats found along the shores of Lake Tahoe. San Francisco financier I.W. Hellman built the house for his beloved family to enjoy the clean air and refreshing waters of Lake Tahoe. The property, containing the estate and 2,000 acres, was sold to the State of California in 1965.
Enjoy a pre-booked, docent-led tour of the property, only a 50-minute drive from the hotel.
An even more spectacular mansion, Vikingsholm, is located in Emerald Bay and is also open for tours but does require a steep one mile walk from the parking lot.

Sail the M.S. Dixie II
Voted "Best Cruise in Nevada," the 2.25-hour Daytime Scenic Cruise aboard the paddlewheel M.S. Dixie II offers stunning views, fresh air, and photo-worthy moments. Glide to Emerald Bay, marvel at Vikingsholm Castle, and learn Tahoe's history through a narrated tour. Perfect for all ages! Enjoy a light lunch or a snack onboard. Full bar service. The boat departs from Zephyr Cove, NV, about a ten-minute drive from the hotel, or the cruise line offers a shuttle service.
As an alternative, the Tahoe Paradise Sunset Wine Tasting Cruise will be offered. Enjoy gourmet appetizers expertly paired with each Joyce Wine Company offering.
The Meet Organizers will arrange special group pricing and advance booking for both options.
